Art hotels do more than offer luxury; they elevate your stay into an extraordinary cultural experience. Here, we introduce four exceptional art hotels in Kyoto, each uniquely showcasing artistic excellence.

Kyoto and Art H otels: A Harmonious Blend of Culture and Luxury

The uniqueness of MUNI extends beyond accommodation. MUNI offers exclusive optional plans that guests should definitely consider during their stay.

Particularly outstanding is the plan where artisans from the renowned Kyoto confectionery ‘Oi-matsu’ visit guests’ rooms to create traditional Japanese sweets right before their eyes (limited to two sessions per day for guests only).

Witnessing the creation of ‘nerikiri,’ delicate confections capturing seasonal beauty, is a luxurious experience akin to observing magic or admiring an art piece.

The freshly made wagashi offers a moment of bliss with its unique texture and refined sweetness. Additionally, MUNI provides plans such as helicopter tours over Kyoto’s cityscape and exclusive visits to Tenryuji Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site, to see the Sogenchi Pond Garden and the Ho-do Hall’s ‘Unryu-zu’ painting before regular visiting hours, when there are no other visitors present.

MUNI plans to continue enriching its offerings with new experiential plans rooted in Arashiyama’s traditional culture and artistic innovation, as shared by the staff during our interview. While MUNI is a place to rest the mind and body, it also stimulates the senses with experiences unique to this location.

Oi-matsu is a Kyoto confectionery founded in Meiji 41 (1908) as ‘Yūshokugashi Gocho Shinjo’ in Kamishichiken, one of Kyoto’s oldest geisha districts. After experiencing MUNI, it’s also recommended to visit their tea house in Arashiyama to enjoy treats like warabi mochi.
